Our Accreditations Explained

Solar PV panels and certified installers in the UK must meet certain standards for quality and safety. There are two main accreditations that exist to ensure this. The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) ensures that installers are certified, panels meet quality standards, and installations are safe. The Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC) protects consumers and promotes ethical selling practices.

These accreditations are typically required to qualify for government incentives and inspections, and serve as a mark of assurance that the installation has been done by a certified professional and that the panels meet UK quality standards. Overall, these accreditations help instil trust and confidence in the solar PV industry in the UK. Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC)

To ensure you have a good experience, you must know what to look out for. Of course most consumers are not technical experts, and nor do you need to be. But you do need accurate information and enough time to understand what it is you are buying. You must be clear about what your expectations are, and you should know the extent to which the generator(s) you are considering are capable of meeting them. In particular you should be clear about the typical price range and likely performance of the generator, and what this is likely to deliver for you in financial terms. Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)

MCS is a standards organisation. We create and maintain standards that allows for the certification of products, installers and their installations. Associated with these standards is the certification scheme, run on behalf of MCS by Certification Bodies who hold UKAS accreditation to ISO 17065. MCS certifies low-carbon products and installations used to produce electricity and heat from renewable sources. MCS is a mark of quality. Membership of MCS demonstrates adherence to these recognised industry standards; highlighting quality, competency and compliance.

TrustMark is an independent, Government-backed standards scheme developed across the home improvement industry. The Installation Assurance Authority

The Installation Assurance Authority is the industry body that provides assurance framework under a single compliance platform and covers consumer protection, technical guidance, Certification, Competent Persons Scheme (CPS), installer surveillance, monitoring, training and carding. The IAA framework gives homeowners, key stakeholders, and funders the confidence that insulation work is carried out to the highest standards and subject to a level of rigor and surveillance which helps ensure it is done ‘Right first time’.
