About Solar Panel Installation Process
from Quotation to Commissioning
Here at Install Solar Panels, we would like to think that we have perfected the entire solar installation process somewhat over the years. The company is always looking to improve our processes and your customer experience. This has evolved to the current milestone process detailed below:
Generally most of our enquiries are via our website, from the information that you have supplied, the solar panel design team will be able to put together a fully bespoke solar quotation. Just based on your address/property details, the team will prepare a fully tailored quotation based on your radiance at postcode level and taking into account orientation, slope with size of roof.
The solar design team will prepare a fully bespoke quotation based on the details and send that to you via e-mail. If the team has any doubt about the exact property’s location in question, they may contact you by the telephone number that you provided just to confirm the details prior to your NO obligation quote.
During the free no obligation site survey, the survey manager will assess the roof space to confirm and finalise the potential number of panels that can be installed with agreed locations at your property. Also taking useful photos, to aid in a swift professional solar panel installation if you were to go ahead. This would include cable runs and the desired location for the solar inverter and battery. The manager will make a note of all scaffolding requirements. Any questions or queries you may have can be raised with our highly experienced solar survey managers.
Once your proposed final solar system is agreed in terms of panel numbers and battery size, if different from our initial quote, an adjusted quote will be sent for your final review and approval. To do this simply press the GREEN approval button to proceed, the scheduling team will then contact you to book in your installation and scaffolding dates accordingly. To reiterate the company’s policy is to take ZERO DEPOSIT, only when you can see your solar system producing on your APP on your phone/pad/PC, would the company request full payment by bank transfer ideally. The company does also accept all major debit and credit cards.
All of our solar panel installations have scaffolding, required from a health and safety point of view, but this also aids the team in a timely and safe installation. The company has a dedicated scaffolding partner, that erects the scaffolding 2 days before and then dismantles it 2 days post installation. The company has elected to use at least a 3 man installation team, to ensure your solar panel installation is done in a timely professional and not rushed manner.
The solar design team will prepare a fully bespoke quotation based on the details and send that to you via e-mail. If the team has any doubt about the exact property’s location in question, they may contact you by the telephone number that you provided just to confirm the details prior to your NO obligation quote.
About Solar Panel Installation Accreditations
Trusted Solar Panel Installation Accreditations
Understanding Solar Accreditations: MCS & RECC Explained
Solar PV panels and certified installers in the UK must meet certain standards for quality and safety. There are two main accreditations that exist to ensure this. The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) ensures that installers are certified, panels meet quality standards, and solar panel installations are safe. The Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC) protects consumers and promotes ethical selling practices.
Our Accreditations Explained
Understanding Solar Accreditations: MCS & RECC Explained
These accreditations are typically required to qualify for government incentives and inspections, and serve as a mark of assurance that the installation has been done by a certified professional and that the panels meet UK quality standards. Overall, these accreditations help instil trust and confidence in the solar PV industry in the UK. As a company we have strived to qualify for additional certifications and insurance schemes to ensure your consumer confidence.
Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC)
Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)
MCS is a standards organisation. We create and maintain standards that allows for the certification of products, installers and their installations. Associated with these standards is the certification scheme, run on behalf of MCS by Certification Bodies who hold UKAS accreditation to ISO 17065. MCS certifies low-carbon products and installations used to produce electricity and heat from renewable sources. MCS is a mark of quality. Membership of MCS demonstrates adherence to these recognised industry standards; highlighting quality, competency and compliance.
Trustmark Registered
TrustMark is an independent, Government-backed standards scheme developed across the home improvement industry. Homeowners who contract with a TrustMark-registered business can be reassured that the business complies not only with RECC’s rigorous standards, but also with TrustMark’ scheme requirements, including the TrustMark Code of Conduct and Customer Charter. This will provide reassurance, confidence and peace of mind to consumers.
The Installation Assurance Authority
The Installation Assurance Authority is the industry body that provides assurance framework under a single compliance platform and covers consumer protection, technical guidance, Certification, Competent Persons Scheme (CPS), installer surveillance, monitoring, training and carding. The IAA framework gives homeowners, key stakeholders, and funders the confidence that insulation work is carried out to the highest standards and subject to a level of rigor and surveillance which helps ensure it is done ‘Right first time’. For members our quality assurance framework will provide the unique association with an organisation that is leading the way in delivery a sustainable and professional insulation industry.

The G98 and G99 Solar Application Processes in the UK
Understanding the Difference Between G98 and G99
If you're considering installing a solar photovoltaic (PV) system in the UK, it's essential to understand the G98 and G99 application processes. These processes, regulated by Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), ensure the safe and efficient integration of solar systems into the electricity grid. Here’s a breakdown of their key differences and when each applies.
What is a G98 Application?
The G98 process (formerly G83) is designed for small-scale, microgeneration installations. This includes systems with a capacity of 16 amps per phase or less, typically up to 3.68kW for single-phase or 11.04kW for three-phase connections.
G98 installations are considered "fit and inform," meaning you can connect your system to the grid without prior DNO approval, provided you inform them within 28 days of commissioning. This streamlined process is ideal for residential systems and small-scale setups, making it quicker and less administratively demanding.
What is a G99 Application?
For larger installations exceeding the G98 thresholds, the G99 process (formerly G59) applies. This covers solar systems above 3.68kW single-phase or 11.04kW three-phase, including commercial and large-scale projects.
Unlike G98, G99 requires a more detailed application process, including technical assessments, network studies, and DNO approval before installation. The system must meet stricter compliance standards to ensure the local network can handle the additional load. This process may take several weeks or months, depending on complexity.
Key Differences
Scale: G98 is for small systems; G99 is for larger setups.
Approval: G98 doesn’t need pre-approval; G99 does.
Timeline: G99 is longer due to network impact assessments.
Understanding these distinctions helps ensure your solar project complies with regulations and integrates seamlessly with the grid. Always consult your DNO early in the planning process to confirm the appropriate application pathway.
